Battle of Flowers: History of the Optimists Club entries
The Optimists Club first entered a Senior Float in the Jersey Battle of Flowers in 1983. Over the years, as club members had families, the Club also enterd 'Junior Floats' too. The Club has been very successfull over the years, having never been out of the top three senior floats since their second float, 'Toytown' in 1984. The Club's senior floats have come third, winning the Prix Des Fleurs, six times, second, winning the Prix D'Excellence, nine times and first, winning the top prize; the Prix D'Honneur, ten times. In 1987, with only their fifth float, The Optimists Club became the first non-parish float to win the Prix D'Honneur. They also became the first organisation to win the Prix D'Honneur for three consecutive years, from 1989 to 1991.
