The Jersey Battle of Flowers 2008
The 2008 Jersey Battle of Flowers Day Parade was held on Thursday, 14th August 2008. Congratulations to both our Junior & Senior Floats who both won awards. The Floats looked spectacular, or, to quote Paul Michel, Chairman of the Optimists Battle of Flowers, "FANTASTIC!", as did all our club members who accompanied the floats.
In true Battle tradition the sun shone and it was a scorching hot day. Despite this, everyone battled through the heat and delivered a full, energetic and lively, polished performance, around the entire arena.
Their efforts were rewarded and the floats received the following awards:
The Optimists Juniors – ‘Sammy and the Performing Seals’
2nd in Class 8
The Optimists Club – ‘Circus’
· Best Exhibit in Class 11 - Jersey Hotel & Guest House Association Trophy
· Best Exhibit in Classes 4, 5, 8, 9 & 11 - Clubs and Associations Floral Class 11 - Garnet Borny Memorial Trophy
· Best 3 dimensional Set Piece – Floral - Galaad Methodist Junior Church Award - for the Elephant
· Best Carnival Atmosphere in Classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 - The Roy Labey Memorial Trophy
· Prix d'Honneur - Jersey Evening Post Trophy
